<br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular
<br />session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Monday,
<br />November 16, 1987, at 7:00 P.M.
<br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz
<br /> Commissioners: Kenneth F. Payne
<br /> William G. Hamby, Jr.
<br /> R. Giles Moss
<br /> Absent - Commissioner: Martha H. Melvin
<br /> The invocation was given by Reverend Robert F. Dean of the Gilwood
<br />Presbyterian Church.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Cox~issioner Payne and
<br />unanimously carried, the minutes of November 2 and November 5, 1987, were
<br />approved as written.
<br /> Chairman Lentz stated that this was the day and hour scheduled for the
<br />public hearing for the proposed Zoning Atlas and Text amendments.
<br /> Mr. Larry Loving, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Planning Board,
<br />presented each of the Zoning Atlas and Text amendments as recommended by the
<br />Planning Board. Mr. Mike Byrd, member of the Planning staff, reviewed the
<br />location of the areas proposed for rezoning. Public input was received on
<br />the proposed amendments prior to action by the Board of Commissioners.

<br />ZONING ATLAS AMENDMENTS
<br />
<br />Petition 87-27. Curtis James Linn, off Centergrove Road, township 4,
<br />Map/PIN 5613(12)-76-7434. Wishes to rezone from R-7.2 to 0 & I.
<br />Planning Board voted 4-0 to deny this petition.
<br />
<br /> There was no one present to speak for or against the proposed rezoning,
<br />and the public hearing was closed.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board denied Petition 87-27 by Curtis James Linn to
<br />rezone property off Centergrove Road as the proposed rezoning is not
<br />conducive to the plans of the City of Kannapolis.
<br />
<br />Petition 87-28. C. Melvin Greene, Executor of Elma D. Greene, off Zion
<br />Church Road East, township 11, Map/PIN 5338-58-5500 and a portion of
<br />5538-58-5516 by Planning Board request. Wishes to rezone from ARR/RMF-7
<br />to RMF-7.
<br />
<br />Planning Board voted 4-0 to approve this petition.
<br />
<br /> There was no one present to speak for or against the proposed rezoning,
<br />and the public hearing was closed.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Moss and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board approved Petition 87-28 by C. Melvin Greene,
<br />to rezone property off Zion Church Road East, Map/PIN 5338-58-5500 and a
<br />portion of 5538-58-5516, from ARR/RMF-7 to RMF-7.

<br />Petition 87-26. (Tabled at last Commissioners meeting)
<br />Days Inn of America, Inc., off Davidson Highway and Biscayne Drive,
<br />township 4, Map/PIN 5601-36-8664, 37-8593, 46-4798, 47-1535. Wishes to
<br />rezone from A-I to I-2.
<br />
<br /> Planning Board voted 3-1 to zone PIN 5601-46-4798 I-2 with remaining
<br />property to be zoned I-1.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Larry Williams, representing the property owners, stated that the
<br />rezoning as approved by the Planning Board would satisfy the intent of the
<br />property owners in regards to the use of the land.
<br /> There was no one else present to speak for or against the proposed
<br />rezoning, and the public hearing was closed.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Commissioner Payne and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board approved Petition 87-26 as presented by the
<br />Planning Board to rezone property off Davidson Highway and Biscayne Drive,
<br />Map/PIN 5601-46-4798, from A-I to I-2 with the remaining property, Map/PIN
<br />5601-36-8664, 37-8593, and 47-1535, to be rezoned from A-I to I-1.
