Roberts, P.E. <br />Vice President <br />JLR:tas <br /> <br />For Cabarrus County <br />January 16, 1989 <br /> Date <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board accepted the grant in the amount of <br />$1,400.00 from the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service to be used <br />by the Cabarrus County Agricultural Extension Service to deliver <br />contractual services in support of the Expanded Food and Nutrition <br />Education Program and approved the following budget amendment to provide <br />funds to carry out this grant. <br /> <br />AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION SERVICE <br />ACCOUNT # 41-10 <br /> <br /> Present <br />Line Item Approved Revised <br />Account No. Description Budget Increase Decrease Budget <br /> <br />860 Equipment/Furniture $10,572 $500 $11,072 <br />301 Office Supplies $ 7,250 $900 $ 8,190 <br /> <br />PURPOSE OF BUDGET REVISION REQUEST: <br /> To purchase items in the approved grant of $1,400 for the EFNEP <br /> Program by North Carolina State University. <br /> <br /> Mr. Irvin Newberry, President of the Concord-Cabarrus County Chamber <br />of Commerce, presented the Chamber's 1989 Program of Work entitled the <br />"Blueprint for Progress" The 1989 goals and objectives included the <br />establishment of a better working relationship with elected officials, <br />continued support of building an airport in Cabarrus County, extension of <br />water and sewer lines for industrial and commercial uses, development of <br />the Western By-Pass, and construction of the Cabarrus campus of the <br />Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. <br /> Mr. Robert M. The Board <br />took no action on the proposed amendment. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the County Finance Officer to pay <br />$1,000.00 as Cabarrus County's share of the costs for the Carolina Counties <br />Coalition to fund the activities of the Transportation Task Force and to <br />contract with the Urban Institute of the University of North Carolina at <br />Charlotte to provide staff services to the Task Force. <br /> It was noted that each county in the eight-county region bordering <br />Mecklenburg County will have three representatives on the Task Force. <br /> <br /> <br />
