NORTH CAROLINA Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes October 19, 1995 7:00 P.M. "4 Ms. Katherine Stafford, Ch~rperson, called the meeting to order at ~:-0' p.m. Members present in addition to the Chair were Mr. Lewis Browrdow, Mr. Clyde Drye, Ms. Janice Harkey, Mr. R. Vernon Jeter, Mr. Benjamin Lane, Mr, Dewey Moose, and Mr. Aaron Ritchie. Attending from the Planning, Zoning and Building Inspection Depamnent were Mr. Gerald A. Newton, Director, Mr. Jonathan B. Marshall, Senior Planner, Mr. Michael K. Downs, Zoning Administrator, Mr. Michael L. Byrd, Transportation Planner, Mr. Jay Lowe, Zoning Technician and Ms.. Phyllis C. Cart. Also attending was Mr. Richard Koch, Attorney for the Planning and Zoning Commission. There being no corrections to the September 21, 1995 Minutes, Mr. Jeter MOTIONED, seconded by Mr. Drye to approve the minutes as submitted. The vote was unanimous. The Chair introduced the first item on the Agenda, Zoning Text Amendment: Applicant; Cabarrus County Plmming and Zoning Staff Request: .~. Petition 95.-05(T) This was a request to the Cabarrus Coun~ Planning and Zoning Commission from the Cabarms County Planning and Zoning Staff, Petition 95-05(T), to amend Section 6-11, Abandoned and Junk Vehicles and amend Section 2-2 Definitions. Section 6-11, Abandoned and Junk Vehicles amend to read as follows: Abandoned and junked motor vehicles constitute a hazard to the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Cabatms County. Such vehicles can harbor noxious disease, provide shelter and breeding places 'for vermin, and present physical dangers to the safety of our children as well as the general public.
