NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes <br />January .20, 1994 <br />7:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Dr. Nancy H. Randall, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present <br />in addition to the Chair were Mr. Alan Allison, Mr. Robert Amos, Mr. LeWis Brownlow, Ms. <br />Monica Davis, Ms. Janice Harkey, Dr. David Hartgen, Mr. Edward Moose, and Mr. Gerald <br />Nichols. Attending from the Planning, Zoning, and Building Inspection Department were Mr. <br />Gerald A. Newton, Director, Ms. Sarah LaBelle, Transportation Planner, Mr. Michael Downs, <br />Zoning Administrator, and Ms. Phyllis C. Carr. Also attending was Mr. William G. Hamby, <br />Jr., Attorney for the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br /> <br />There being no corrections to the December 16, 1993 Minutes, Mr.. Brownlow MOTIONED, <br />seconded by Mr. Moose to approve the minutes as mailed. The vote was unanimous. <br /> <br />Old Business <br /> <br />The Chair introduced the first item of old business On the Agenda, .Discussion of A-O District: <br /> <br />The Chair asked Mr. Newton, Director, to make a brief presentation to the b°ard concerning <br />some of these concerns. <br /> <br />Mr. Newton stated to the Board and audience the following' <br /> <br />"The staff has been working on a series of area plans that have mn over a period of years. For <br />about three years we have worked on area plans throughout the county. When I came here in <br />1990, it was in the knowledge that area plans and planning had not been laid out for how the <br />county would develop. A lot of people had ideas and a lot of those ideas differed. So the staff <br />worked on area plans. We met with residents, many people have since told him that he knew <br />nothing of those. We understand that not everyone knew. What we'did do was tried through <br />a series of ways to get people involved. We sent fliers to churches, notices to each of the <br />newspapers that cover the entire county. We sent notices to the Tribune, Independent, and the <br /> <br /> Planning and Zoning Department <br />p.O.
