CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Post Office Box 707 <br />CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />March 15, 1989 <br /> <br />Minutes of the Cabarrus County Planning Board <br /> <br />The Cabarrus COunty~ Planning Board met in regular session on March 15, 1989, <br />at 7'04 P.M., in the County Commissioners Room of the Cabarrus County Courthouse. <br /> <br />~Mr. Ewan stated to the citizens that the Planning Board is an advisory committee <br />and they only make recommendations to the County Commissioners on rezoning <br />request. The Cou~nty Commissioners will discuss all issues' on April. 17, 1987, <br />at 7'00 P.M., and'they will make the final decisions on rezonings. <br /> <br />Roll Call' <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Robert.Ewan. <br />Members present in addition to Mr. Ewan were Mr. Gerald <br />Nichols, Ms. Nancy Randall and. Mr. Louis Suther. <br />.Attending from i~he Planning .Department were Mr. James F. <br />Owens, Pla.nning Director, Mr. Mike Byrd, Mr. Jonathan <br />Marshall and Ms. Phyllis C. Carr. Also attending was <br />Mr. Gordon L. Belo, Attorney for the Planning Board. <br /> <br />Approval/Correcti on <br />of Minutes' <br /> <br />With there being no corrections to the February 15, 1989 <br />Minutes, Mr. Nichols MOTIONED, seconded by Ms. Randall <br />to approve the.minutes as mailed. The vote was unanimous. <br /> <br />New Bus i ness <br />Little Investment <br />.Company Rezoni ng <br />A-I to I-2' <br /> <br />Petition 89-02, was a request by. Little Investment <br />Company, southside of Ivey Cline Road, adjacent to <br />1-85 and proposed airport site, .to have their property <br />rezoned from A-I to I-2, to make the tract available <br />for industrial use. <br /> <br />Mr. Bill Alexander, representing Mr. C.D. Barbre and wife, <br />addressed the Board stating that the tract of land the <br />Barbre's wish to have rezoned was included in the <br />original King's Grant request to be rezoned, and <br />Trammel-Crowe excluded the Barbre's tract of land <br />i.n the second request. Mr. Alexander~~stated from a <br />planning point of view, the question was when will the <br />land be converted to an industrial use, not whether <br />it would be converted.. Mr. Alexander also stated that if <br />the property is rezoned, it would be used for a mixed <br />use industrial park that would include both heavy and light <br />industry. 'Mr. Alexander asked the Board for their <br />consideration in this rezoning request. <br /> <br /> <br />
