CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br /> PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br /> <br /> Post Office Box 707 <br /> <br />CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA 28025 <br /> <br />June 21, 1989 <br /> <br />Minutes of the Cabarrus County Planning Board <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Planning Board met in regular session on June 21, 1989, at <br />7'00 P.M., in the County Commissioners Room of the Cabarrus County Courthouse. <br /> <br />Mr. Page stated to the citizens that the Planning Board is an adVisory committee <br />and they only make recommendations to the County Commissioners on rezonings. <br />The County CommissionerS will discuss al.1 issues on July 24, 1989, at 7'00 P.M., <br />and they will make all final decisions on rezonings. . <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />The meeting was called to o~der by Chairman Ronald.Page. <br />Members in addition to Mr. Page were Mr. Edward Moose, <br />Mr. Gerald Nichols, Ms. Nancy Randall and-Mr. Louis <br />Suther. Attending from the Planning Department were <br />Mr. James F. Owens, Planning Director, Mr. Jonathan B. <br />Marshall, Ms. Sue G. Russell and Ms. Phyllis ~C. Carr <br />Also attending was Mr. Gordon L. Belo, Attorney for <br />the Planning Boa rd. <br /> <br />Approval/ <br />Correcti on of <br />Minutes' <br /> <br />Wi th there being no corrections to the May 10, and May 17, <br />1989 Minutes, Ms. Randall MOTIONED, seconded by Mr. Moose <br />to approve the minutes as mailed. The vote was unanimous. <br /> <br />New Business <br />Bennie Ruth <br />Hunsucker <br />Rezoning <br />ARR to C-4: <br /> <br />Petition 89-08, was a request by Bennie Ruth Hunsucker, off <br />Highway 601, south of Flowe Store Road, to have her property <br />rezoned from ARR to C-4, to use for sale/storage of rental <br />furniture and other retail items. <br /> <br />Ms. Bennie Hunsucker addressed the Board on behalf of her <br />petition asking the BOard to consider rezoning her property <br />commerci al. <br /> <br />Mr. Page asked the Board and Planning Staff to .evaluate <br />this property and see if the zoning in the entire area <br />may be changed to create a commercial node. <br /> <br />Mr. Owens addressed the Board stating that the only other <br />zoning in that part of the county that can be seen is the <br />C-1 or C-2 zone. <br /> <br />After discussion Mr. Page MOTIONED, seconded by Mr. Nichols <br />to deny petition 89-08. The vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> <br />
