CABARRUS COUNTY' PLANNING ~DEPARTMENT Post Office Box 707 CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA 28025 January 21, 1987 Minutes of the Cabarrus County Planning Board The Cabarrus County Planning BOard met in regular session on January 21, 1987, at 7-05 p.m., in the Cabarrus County Commissioners Room of the Cabarrus Courthouse. Before the meeting convened, Mr. Louis Suther was sworn in by Magistrate, Carolyn Goodman, as Planning Board Member. MS. Roll Call. Approval Correcti on of Minutes' New Busi ness J ames Dai 1 y Rezoning I-1 to A-2' The meeting was called to Order by Chairman Mr. Larry Loving. Members present in addition to Mr. Loving were Mr. Robert Ewan, Mr. Gerald Nichols and Mr. Louis Suther. Attending from the Planning Department were Mr. James F. Owens, Planning Director, Mr. Mike Byrd, Mr. Phillip Kingsland, and Ms. Phyllis C. Carr. Also attending was Mr. Gordon L. BelO, Attorney. for the P1 anning Board. With there.being no corrections to the December 17, 1986 Minutes, Mr. Nichols MOTIONED, seconded by Mr. Ewan to approve the minutes as mailed. The vote was unanimous. Mr. Loving stated to the citizens that the Planning Board is an advisory committee and only makes recommendations to 'the County Commissioners on rezonings. The County Commissioners will discuss ail isSues on February 16, 1987, at 7'00 p.m. and they will make the final decision on rezoning requests. Petition 86-39, was a request by Mr. James Daily, off Pless Road to have his property rezoned from I-1 to A-2, for residential use. After discussion Mr..Ewan MOTIONED, seconded by Mr. to approve petition 86-39. The vote was unanimous. Ni cho 1 s Mr. Ewan MOTIONED, seconded by Mr. to withdraw from petition 86-35. Mary Welch Rezoning A-2 to C-3- Petition 86-35, was a request by Ms. Mary Welch', off Highway 24~2~7~-{6 have her property rezoned from A-2 to C-3.or I-I(PDO), for distribution center. Mr. Sam Davis addressed the Board on behal, f of Ms. Mary Welch and Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Charlotte, stating that Pepsi Cola Bottling Company is an excellent use for this property, and he wish for the Board to recommend to the County Commissioners to rezone the property to I-I(PDO) or C-3 as the alternative.
