CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br /> Post Office Box 707 <br /> <br />CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA 28025 <br /> <br />May 20, 1987 <br /> <br />Minutes of the Cabarrus County Planning Board <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Planning Board met in regular session on May 20, 1987, at <br />7:00 p.m., in the County Commissioners Room of the Cabarrus County Courthouse. <br /> <br />Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Ronald <br /> Page. Members present in addition to Mr. Page were <br /> Mr. Gerald Nichols and Mr. Louis Suther. Attending from <br /> the Planning Department were Mr. James F. Owens, Planning <br /> Director, Mr. Mike Byrd and Ms. Phyllis C, Carr. Also <br /> attending was Mr. Gordon L. Belo, Attorney for the Planning <br /> Board. <br /> <br />Approval/Correction <br />of Minutes: <br /> <br />With there being no corrections to the April 15, 1987 <br />Minutes, Mr. Nichols MOTIONED, seconded by Mr. Suther <br />to approve the minutes as mailed. The vote was unanimous. <br /> <br />Mr. Page stated to the citizens that the Planning Board <br />is an advisory committee and only makes recommendations <br />· to the County Commissioners on rezonings' The County <br />Commissioners will discuss all issues-on June 15, 1987, <br />at 7:00 p.m., and they will make the final decisions on <br />rezoning requests. <br /> <br />New Business <br />Butler Specialties <br />Rezoning <br />C-1 to C-4: <br /> <br />Petition 87-14, was a request by Butler Specialties, off <br />Pitts School ROad, to have their property rezoned from <br />C-1 to C-4, for commercial use. <br /> <br />Mr. Mike Johnson, representing Butler Specialties addressed <br />the Board stating that Butler Specialties is a small <br />business that sells automotive parts to racing industries. <br />Mr. Johnson stated he wish to have this property rezoned <br />to C-4 so it would solve any problems in the near future. <br /> <br />Mr. Ed Ferguson representing the property owners in <br />opposition to this petition addressed the Board stating <br />that Manufacturing of Specialty Auto Parts are only <br />permitted in the I-1 zone. Mr. Ferguson asked the Board <br />to encourage their recommendations to the County Commissioners <br />that this request not be approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Owens addressed the Board, clarifying the line item <br />Manufacturing of Specialty Auto Parts for Vintage Cars. <br /> <br /> <br />
