CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br /> PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br /> <br /> Post Office Box 707 <br /> <br />CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA 28025 <br /> <br />August 19, 1987 <br /> <br />Minutes <br /> <br />of the Cabarrus County Planning Board <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Planning Board met in regular session on August 19, 1987, at <br />7'05 p.m., in the ..County Commissioners Room of the Cabarrus County Courthouse. <br /> <br />Roll Call' <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Larry Loving. <br />Members present in additi'on to Mr. Loving were Mr. Robert <br />Ewan, Mr. Gerald Nichols, Mr Ronald Page and~Mr. Louis <br />Suther. Attending from the ~lanning Department were Mr. <br />James F. Owens, Ptanning Director, Mr. Mike Byrd, Mr. <br />Phillip Kingsland and Ms. Phyllis C. Carr. Also attending <br />was Mr. Gordon L. Belo, Attorney for the Planning Board. <br /> <br />Approval/ <br />Correction of <br />Minutes' <br /> <br />With there being no corrections to the July 15, 1987 Minutes, <br />Mr. Nichols MOTIdONED seconded by Mr. Page to.approve the <br />minutes as maile . ~he vote was unanimous. <br /> <br />Mr. Loving stated to the citizens that the Planning Board <br />is an-.advisory committee and only makes recommendations <br />to the County Commissioners on rezonings. The County <br />Commissioners will discuss all. iss.ues on September 21, 1987, <br />at 7:00 p.m. and they will make the final de.cision on <br />rezon i ng request. <br /> <br />deffery W. Carter <br />Rezoning <br />ARR to I-1/PDO. <br /> <br />Petition 87-20, was a request by Jeffery W. Carter, off Lake <br />Lynn Road, to have his property rezoned from ARR to I-1/PD0, <br />to establish a small machine type business. <br /> <br />Mr. Bob Amos addressed the Board in opposition to petition <br />87-20, stating that zoning was established to provide, for <br />orderly and systematic ~rowth in the county. Mr. Amos also <br />stated that the county' eeds to adhere to the plan and long <br />range perspective of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Mr. Jeffery Carter addressed the Board on behalf of his <br />petition stating that h.~s original petitio'n was for a small <br />machine type business, but his petition was denied. Mr. <br />Carter presented a petition to the Board from citizens in <br />favo.r of his petition. Mr. Carter asked the Board to support <br />him on this rezoning. <br /> <br />After discussion Mr. Page MOTIONED, seconded by Mr <br />to deny petition 87-20.
