CABARRUS COUNTY' <br /> PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br /> POst Office Box 707 <br /> <br />CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA 28025 <br /> <br />October 21, 1987 <br /> <br />Minutes of the Cabarrus County Planning Board <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Planning Board met in regular session on October 21, 1987, at <br />7'00 P.M., in the County Commissioners Room of the Cabarrus County' Courthouse. <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Larry Loving. <br />Members present in addition to Mr. Loving were Mr. Robert <br />Ewan, Mr. Ronald Page and-Mr. Louis Su.ther. Attending <br />from the Planning Departm~ent were Mr. James F. Owens/Planning <br />DJ.rector, Mr. Mike Byrd and Ms. Phyllis C. Carr. A1 so <br />attending was Mr. Gordon L. Belo, Attorney for the Planning Board. <br /> <br />Approval/ <br />Correction <br />of Minutes- <br /> <br />With there being no 'corrections to 'the September 16, 1987 Minutes, <br />Mr. Page MOTIONED, seconded by Mr. Ewan to approve the minutes <br />as. mailed. The vote was u~nanimous. <br /> <br />New Business <br />Curtis James <br />Linn <br />Rezoning <br />R-7.2 to O&I: <br /> <br />Petition 87-27, was a request by Curtis James Linn, off Centergrove <br />Road, to have his property rezoned from R-7.2 to 0 & I, to <br />establish an office. <br /> <br />Mr. Owens addressed the Board, stating that Mr. Richard Flowe, <br />acting Planning Director for the City of Kannapolis, stated <br />if this property is rezoned, it would be spot zoning, and that <br />there is no other 0 & I district in that area. <br /> <br />Mr. Curtis Linn addressed the Board on behalf of Dr. Gibbs, <br />stating if the property was rezoned, there would be no problem <br />with the right-of-way or traffic flow on Centergrove Road. <br />Mr. Linn also stated that he would like' to get ~his.property <br />rezoned because he think i~t would help the neighborhood and <br />Dr. Gibbs. <br /> <br />After discussion Mr.'Ewan MOTIONED, seconded by Mr. Page to <br />deny petition 87-27. <br /> <br />Mr. Loving addressed the Planning Staff as to why the Cabarrus <br />County Planning Board had to act on this petition. <br /> <br />Mr. Owens addressed the Board stating that the reason~ <br />Cabarrus County Planning Board is acting on this petition <br />because the City of Kannapolis has not adopted their zoning <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />After further discussion, the vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> <br />
