Meeting 10 continued <br />3. The Chairman reported that all five District Supervisors and three <br />other interested persons from the Cabarrus District attended the WATER <br />SEMINAR conducted.by the N. C. Department of Water Resources, held in States= <br />ville, N. C. March 12, 1964. The record shows the following attended: <br />L. D. Coltrane, III, Supervisor <br />Baker Brooks, " <br />S. W. Colerider, Jr., " <br />J. Lewis Patterson, it <br />S. I. Parker, It <br />John C. Smith, District Conservationist <br />John L. Brown, Jr., Commissioner, Concord Dept. of Water & Lights <br />Harold Falls, Concord Dept. of Water & Lights <br />4. The Secretary reported receipt of a letter from the State S & W <br />Conservation Department, dated March 25, which notified of a meeting <br />of Supervisors of Area 3 to be held on March 31 at Bame's Restaurant <br />in Rowan County. Because of such short notice, four of our Supervisors <br />were unable to attend. John S. Smith and S. I. Parker changed some plans <br />that had been previously made and did attend the meeting. This proved <br />to be a most interesting and helpful meeting, and Mr. Smith and Mr. Parker <br />gave a full report of what transpired, and presented the Supervisors with <br />pamphlets and other literature which were distributed during the <br />discussions in Statesville, such as <br />Program Objectives,for 1964 <br />Travel Expense Forms <br />Guide Book <br />Certificate of Award <br />Sample forms, Memorandum of Understanding, Forestry, etc., <br />5. John S. Smith, District Conservationist, made the following report <br />of accomplishments since last meeting: <br />3 New Cooperators <br />3 Basic Plans developed <br />8 Requests for assistance with terracing <br />1 Request for pamphlets on Soil and Water Conservation to be <br />used by classes at Shankletown School <br />2 Requests for pamphlets on Soil and Water Conservation from <br />individual students at Concord High School <br />6. The following resolution was duly passed: Be it resolved: <br />The Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District seek to establish a <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING with the Division of Forestry, North Carolina <br />Department of Conservation and Development; and, Chairman L. D. Coltrane, <br />III be vested with full authority to execute said MEMORANDUM for the <br />District. <br />
