MINUTES SUPERVISOR'S MEETING CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT MEETING NO. 17 (Special Meeting) TIME: July 28, 1964 7:30 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. This meeting was held for the purpose of presenting to a representative group of citizens the possibility of establishing a project for the improvement of Coddle Creek Watershed, and to ascertain whether or not such a project would be wanted and supported by the landowners of the watershed. 2. After stating the purpose of the meeting, Chairman Coltrane presented Mr. Thompson to the audience. Mr. Thompson very clearly and forcefully explained the advantages and needs for protecting and improving watersheds. He outlined the aid, both financial and technical, which is offered by the government, and he explained the conditions under which such aid is made available. However, he made it very clear that the execution of such a project is the responsibility of the landowners of the area involved. He pointed out that the project is their business - -it is their project - - -and no project should be undertaken unless there exists sufficient enthusiasm to carry itthrough to a successful conclusion.
