MINUTES <br />SUPERVISOR'S MEETING <br />CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />MEETING NO. 28 <br />TIME: April 12, 1965 8 :30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. <br />PLACE: District Office <br />PRESENT: Supervisors: L. D. Coltrane, III, Chairman <br />S. I. Parker, Secretary- Treasurer <br />Baker Brooks <br />S. W. Colerider, Jr. <br />Absent: J. Lewis Patterson <br />Associate Supervisors: W. E. Cook <br />C. C. Rimer <br />Marvin Smith <br />Absent: ClYde..:D. Cook <br />J. L.Cochran <br />J. Archie Smith <br />Others Present: John S. Smith, Conservationist <br />Ray Allen, County Agent <br />Larry K. Lawrence, County Forester <br />1. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br />2. Chairman Coltrane reported: <br />A. A Memorandum of Understanding has been established between our <br />District and N. C. Wildlife Resources Commission and the signed copy <br />is on file with our Secretary. <br />B. The Act empowering our County Commissioners to levy a tax of 2� <br />per $100.00 property valuation for watershed maintenance is supposed <br />to have been presented to the Legislature but Representative Dwight <br />Quinn has not yet notified him of its passage. <br />3. The Secretary reported that he, Mr. John Smith and Mr. Bob Nash of <br />the Concord Tribune, attended Area 3 meeting at Pittsboro March 11. <br />He reported it was a well planned, constructive meeting at which <br />important items of business were discussed and clarified. <br />4. Treasurer's Report: <br />Cash in Bank 3/1/65 <br />Paid for letterheads & envelopes <br />Cash in Bank 4/1/65 <br />$' 389.98 389.98 <br />5. Report of Conservationist: <br />a. Mr. John Stewart and Mr. Robert Smitherman have begun preliminary <br />surveys to establish a series of bench -marks on bridges and other <br />points in the County. The technical data will be used in determining <br />the feasibility for Federal assistance for the Coddle, Cold- Water, <br />Dutch Buffalo Creeks Watershed Improvement Program. <br />19.00 <br />370.98 <br />
