MINUTES SUPERVISORS MEETING CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT MEETING NO. 41 TIME: February 7, 1966 7:00 p.m. to 10 :35 p.m. PLACE: Hotel Concord PRESENT: Supervisors: Associate Supervisors: Others: L. Smith Absent: Absent: Baker Brooks W. E. Cook 1. Minutes were read and approved. 2. Chairman's Report: a. The Chairman explained that the meeting was being held at this time instead of the 2nd Monday in "February, the regular time for the monthly meeting, as Mr. S. 0. Barefoot had recently visited the District Office and requested that the Supervisors meet at the earliest possible date to consider certain items concerning the watershed and arrive at decisions and notify the State Engineering Department, so that work could be expedited on the watershed project. b. A letter dated January 11, 1966 from Bryce R. Younts was read. This letter notified the Board that Mr. Younts was resigning his position of Administrative Officer of the N. C. Soil and Water Con- servation Committee, and that Mr. H. A. (Jack) Smith would take his place effective February 1, 1966. C. The Chairman reported that he, and Supervisors Colerider and Parker, and Conservationist Price attended the Annual Meeting of the N. C. Soil and Water Conservation Districts, which was held in Asheville January 17, 18, and 19. Mr. Coltrane and Mr. Colerider were unable to spend but one day, but Mr. Price and Mr. Parker attended the entire convention. At the Annual Meeting Mr. Coltrane served on the Watershed Committee, Mr. Colerider on the Wildlife Committee, and Mr. Parker acted as Chairman of the Finance Committee. d. Mr. Coltrane was appointed by this Board , at the January meeting, to act as Chairman of a Committee, composed of Mr. Price, Mr. Cato, and Mr. Parker, to select the Outstanding Cooperator of the District for the year 1965. Mr. Coltrane reported that the Committee had met and selected Mr. Charles L. Voncannon. A motion was duly passed approving the selection made by the Committee. Mr. Voncannon will be awarded a certificate at a later date, naming him as the Outstanding Cooperator of the District for 1965.
