Rimer <br />S. W. Colerider, Jr. Marvin J. Smith <br />1. Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. <br />2. The following communications were read by the Chairman: <br />a. Telegram from Congressman J. T. Broyhill, notifying that <br />planning assistance for watershed had been authorized. <br />b. Letter from Mr. J. P. Kuykendall notifying planning assis- <br />tance had been authorized. <br />C. Letter from Jack Smith requesting 60 to 70 copies of the <br />recently published Long -Range Program, if available, for <br />use by the State office. :(were sent) <br />d. Letter from R. Brown McAllister, Supervisor of Cabarrus <br />Schools, complimenting the publication of the Long -Range <br />Program.` <br />e. Utter from Jack Smith concerning the Twelfth Annual North <br />Carolina FFA Land Judging Meet. <br />3. The Chairman reported on meetings that had been held with represent- <br />atives of the City of Concord, City of Mount Pleasant, and Cannon <br />Mills concerning watershed problems, involving Sites #3, #4, and <br />#12, and city water storage and water storage for recreation for <br />Mount Pleasant These problems are still being investigated and <br />studied. It is thought advisable that representatives from <br />Cabarrus visit Headquarters, Corps 'of'Engineers, U. S. Army, <br />Charleston, S. C., and endeavor to determine from the Commanding <br />Officer if the Dam will be built at Love's Ford, and, if so, when? <br />This information is needed by the citizens of the Mount Pleasant <br />area, so they can decide whether or not to construct a lake to be <br />used for recreation purposes. Mr. Coltrane, Mr. Hoy Moose and <br />Mr. Parker will visit the District Engineer, Friday, March 18 in <br />an effort to gain the desired information. <br />
