OF <br />A <br />7. <br />a <br />10. <br />Meeting No. 56 contd. <br />The District Conservationist reported the following <br />for the month of January: <br />8 Radio Programs <br />3 New Cooperators (241 acres) <br />169 Cooperators Assisted <br />125 First visits this year <br />2 Farm Plans Completed <br />1 Consultive Service <br />584 Acres of land adequately treated <br />accomplishments <br />Mr. Price reported that on February 23, 1967 Mr. W. H. Cato will <br />begin his TWENTY -FIFTH year of service with the Soil Conservation <br />Service in Cabarrus County. <br />A motion was passed approving the action of the Treasurer in pay- <br />ing State and National Dues for the year 1967 of $88.00. <br />Report of Committees: <br />Education: It was reported that three catalogs had been delivered <br />to City Schools and seven catalogs to County Schools <br />of SOIL & WATER MOTION PICTURES. Also, it was reported <br />that the conservation project in the County School, <br />which is being promoted by Dr. Brown McAllister, is <br />progressing satisfactorily. <br />Finance: No report <br />Publicity: No report <br />Public Relations: No report <br />Chairman Coltrane appointed the following Committees to serve during <br />1967: <br />Education: J. Lewis Patterson, Chairman; J. L. Cochran <br />Finance: Baker Brooks, Chairman; W. E.Cook; S. I. Parker <br />Publicity: S. I. Parker, Chairman; L. D. Coltrane, III <br />Watershed: S. W. Colerider, Jr., Chairman; J. Archie Smith; C. C. <br />Rimer; Marvin J. Smith <br />A motion was duly passed declaring Special Meeting No. 53 and <br />Special Meeting No. 55 as "PAID MEETINGS ". <br />A motion was duly passed that this meeting, Meeting No. 56, be <br />declared "NOT. P PAID MEETING ". <br />11. The following motion was passed unanimously: "The Chairman be <br />authorized to write a letter addressed to the proper SCS authorities <br />commending Mr. W. H. Cato for the good work he has accomplished, <br />and the many friends he has made for the organization, during his <br />his 25 years of employment in the Cabarrus Soil Conservation Service. <br />12. A motion was passed unanimously endorsing the contents of a letter <br />which Chairman Coltrane wrote to Mr. H. A. smith, dated 2_- 15 -67. <br />This letter was written in behalf of the newly appointed watershed <br />commissioners. A copy of the letter is attached to these minutes <br />for record. <br />
