L. Cochran <br />1. A joint meeting of the District Supervisors and the Watershed Commissioners was <br />called to order by Chairman Coltrane. <br />2.' Minutes of the last meeting were approved. <br />3. Chairman Coltrane appointed an election committee to check the results of the <br />election held December 3, 1968 for Supervisor of the Cabarrus Soil and Water <br />Conservation District. The committee found the ballot boxes and the records <br />of the voters participating in the election in�_order. The results of the <br />election was as follows: <br />Mr. Samuel I. Parker received 41 votes <br />Mr. W. 0. Barnhardt " 2 votes <br />TOTAL VOTES CAST 43 <br />Mr. Samuel I. Parker was declared elected District Supervisor for a term of <br />three years which will begin January 1 1969 and expires on December 31, 1971 <br />4. Chairman's Report: <br />a. A write -up recommending Dr. Brown McAllister for the SPECIAL AWARD <br />at the Annual Meeting in Winston -Salem was read to the members present. <br />The recommendation was mailed to the State Office November 25, 1968• <br />b. It was reported that a letter was received from Mr. H.A. Smith stating <br />the Cabarrus District would be able to purchase six (6) billboard posters. <br />c. It was called to the attention of the Supervisors that reservations for <br />the Annual Meeting in Winston -Salem (January 13 -15 1969) be sent to the <br />State Office soon as possible. <br />d. A motion made and unanimously passed that Chairman Coltrane of the <br />District Supervisors and Fred H. Harkey, Chairman of the Watershed <br />Commissioners send a letter to Mr. Lewis W. Dameron, Area Conservationist <br />requesting that preliminary survey work be done as quickly as possible <br />for proposed Watershed Structures No. 5, No 22 and 23. The letter stated <br />that many difficulties had caused continuous delays. Permissions to <br />survey has now been obtained from landowners on all three of these sites. <br />
