A joint meeting of the District Supervisors and the Watershed Commissioners was called to order by Chairman Coltrane. 2.' Minutes of the last meeting were approved. 3. Chairman Coltrane appointed an election committee to check the results of the election held December 3, 1968 for Supervisor of the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District. The committee found the ballot boxes and the records of the voters participating in the election in�_order. The results of the election was as follows: Mr. Samuel I. Parker received 41 votes Mr. W. 0. Barnhardt " 2 votes TOTAL VOTES CAST 43 Mr. Samuel I. Parker was declared elected District Supervisor for a term of three years which will begin January 1 1969 and expires on December 31, 1971 4. Chairman's Report: a. A write -up recommending Dr. Brown McAllister for the SPECIAL AWARD at the Annual Meeting in Winston -Salem was read to the members present. The recommendation was mailed to the State Office November 25, 1968• b. It was reported that a letter was received from Mr. H.A. Smith stating the Cabarrus District would be able to purchase six (6) billboard posters. c. It was called to the attention of the Supervisors that reservations for the Annual Meeting in Winston -Salem (January 13 -15 1969) be sent to the State Office soon as possible. d. A motion made and unanimously passed that Chairman Coltrane of the District Supervisors and Fred H. Harkey, Chairman of the Watershed Commissioners send a letter to Mr. Lewis W. Dameron, Area Conservationist requesting that preliminary survey work be done as quickly as possible for proposed Watershed Structures No. 5, No 22 and 23. The letter stated that many difficulties had caused continuous delays. Permissions to survey has now been obtained from landowners on all three of these sites.
