MINUTES <br />CARARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />SUPERVISORS MEETING <br />MaUING NO: 164 <br />DATE: November 11, 1975 PLACE: Central Cabarrus High School TIME: 7:30-8:45 P.M. <br />Present: <br />J. As a part of this meeting, we were privileged to attend the 1975 Annual <br />Speaking contest. <br />Mr. W. H. Cato opened the program calling on Mr. L. D. Coltrane for the <br />Invo&ati6n. <br />Each contestant gave their speech on various phases of conservation. <br />We were happy to have as judges: <br />Dr. R. Brown McAllister, retired Educational Supervisor <br />Tommy Young, Acting Area Conservationist for SCS <br />Carl Sloop, Chairman State Soil & Water Commission <br />While the judges retired to make their decision, Hugh Price presented <br />slides of the conservation tours and explained the demonstrations <br />given on the tours to emphasize the need for preserving our natural <br />resources. <br />Dr. McAllister presented the awards to the following contestants: <br />First Place <br />Dana Hatley <br />Second Place <br />William Cook <br />Other individuals <br />Anne Allmond <br />Gregory Schueneman <br />Winecoff School <br />Odell School <br />Hartsell School <br />Mt. Pleasant School <br />Comments of interest in the conservation tours and the knowledge offered <br />to our young school students concerning conservation were given by Elise <br />Litaker and our three judges. <br />Following the Speaking contest, honorary gifts from the Cabarrus Soil and <br />Water Conservation District were given to the judges. <br />
