4 technical services provided; 1 ACP referral; 2 units of government <br />assisted; 146 acres conservation cropping system; 146 acres crop residue <br />management; 146 acres minimum tillage; 50 acres pasture and hayland <br />management; 13 acres pasture and hayland planting and 172 acres of land <br />adequately treated. <br />It was announced that a public hearing will be held in Raleigh on <br />August 25 concerning stream classification. <br />A report was made that the Soil Conservation Service will begin a new <br />reporting system of conservation practices beginning in October, 1976. <br />6. Committee reports: <br />Mike Harkey was recommended for CONSERVATION FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR-1976. <br />A motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed accepting the <br />recommendation. <br />Finance: <br />Forms (204) Proposed Budget (205) Audit Report and (203) Application for <br />Matching Funds have been completed and mailed to the State Commission. <br />Watershed: <br />Hugh Price reported that he had received a letter from Royce Uspey <br />concerning progress in the watershed. Mr. C-spey expressed concern that <br />a misunderstanding might have occured concerning land rights. It was <br />explained that land using public funds must be acquired in fee simple. <br />A letter was received from Carl Sloop, Chairman of the Recreation <br />Commission for Rowan County stating that the Recreation Commission is <br />interested in studying possibilities of using sites 21 and 22. <br />A report was made that two Geologists will be in the Cabarrus area <br />to study structure sites. <br />Land-Use: <br />Ronnie Stephens, Soil Scientist, reported to the District Supervisors <br />that a review of the soil survey information for the County had been <br />made by State office personnel. Comments were very favorable of the <br />review made of the work accomplished to date. <br />Ronnie also announced that SCS has transferred Henry Huntt, III, Soil <br />Scientist, to the Cabarru�, District to assist with the soil survey. <br />7.
