C. <br />Mr. Blair Goodson, Area VIII Chairman and Supervisor in Lincoln County <br />Mr. lAvight Blackwelder-Supervisor of Instruction of Concord City Schools <br />Each of the five contestants gave their speech on "What Conservation Means To Me". <br />While the Judges retired to make their decision, Paul Binginton with the Wildlife <br />Service showed a film on the preservation of wildlife and hunting. <br />Rev. Tom Hogan, District Supervisor, presented the awards to the Contestants: <br />FIRST PLACE <br />($25.00) <br />Linda Dunn <br />- Winecoff School <br />SECOND PLACE <br />($15.00) <br />David Beam <br />- Odell School <br />THIRD PLACE <br />($10.00) <br />Judy Bowen <br />- Hartsell School <br />Individual winners • $5.00 each were: <br />Kim McDonald and Lori Keller of Hartsell School <br />Following the speech contest, honorary gifts from the Cabarrus Soil and Water <br />Conservation District were given to the judges for their participation in the <br />program. <br />1. A short business meeting was called to order by Chairman Patterson following <br />the contest. <br />2. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed approving the November <br />minutes. <br />
