(b) Tom Hogan recommended that the Speech Contest be held at the <br />regular meeting scheduled for December 11 and at the same meeting <br />date that the Wildlife Award and Farmer of the Year Award be presented. <br />The Board concurred with the recommendation. <br />7. Land Use: <br />Frank Herrin discussed the rapidity in which land use changes are occurring <br />in the local area. He stated that the SWCD Board should have an effective <br />role in planning for these changes. <br />8. Watershed: <br />Carl Overcash reported that he had written the Soil Conservation Service <br />transmitting the alternative accepted by the Board of Commissioners and <br />requested that the SCS proceed with the development of the .Mork plan. He <br />also reported that he would meet with the County Planning Board at its next <br />meeting. <br />9. District Conservationist's Repor <br />(a) The majority of the working time for the past month has been with LTA <br />and ACP. <br />(b) Mrs. Clara Baker is working in the office as a replacement for Mrs. <br />McDaniel until the latter's return. <br />(c) Mr. Bill Hull is now working on a part time basis as a soil conservation <br />technician. <br />10. Old Business: - None. <br />11. New Business: <br />Hugh Price reported that the movement of the office to the new Agriculture <br />Center is scheduled around November 1. <br />12.
