MINUTES CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT SUPERVISORS MEETING MEETING NO: 217 DATE: December 11, 1979 Agriculture Center 7 :10 P.M. - 9:30 P.M. Home Extension Lab PRESENT: J. Lewis Patterson Paul Bowles Carl Overeash Hugh D. Price Frank Herrin C. William Cook Eyvonne McDaniel Rev. Tom Hogan Lipe Barrier Harold Nash UMMUMMIRM Frank Mitchell john Hammill S.W. Col erider GUESTS: Marcelle Milloway, Dr. Nelson Nunnally, Thomas H. Wetmore Prior to the regular meeting, the Annual Speech contest sponsored by the Cabarrus District was held in the Home Extension Lab of the Agriculture Center. Chairman Patterson welcomed the parents, teachers, guesta and the contestants to the program. Rev. Tom Hogan, Education Chairman conducted the rogram. Each contestant gave their speech by drawing a number. The topic was Tants, How They Affect Our Environment". Mike Crean- Daily. Independent and Frankie Furr-Concord Tribune were present to take pictures for the newspapers. The three judges retired to make their decisions of the winners after all contestants delivered their speech. Our judges were Marcelle Millaway- County Commissioner Dr. Nelson R. 1u ally -Area VIII Chairman of Districts Thomas H. Wetmore-Area Conservationist for SCS Rev, Tom Hogan and Chairman Patterson presented placues to Mr. and Mis. John Barrier-"Conservation Farm Family of the Year-1979" and to Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Teeter-Wildlife Award winner chosen by the District for 1979. The judges returned with the following decision: Rev. Hogan explained the Area VIII Speech contest will be announced at a later date. The three (1) judges received blankets as gifts from the District for their participation in our program.
