MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />SUPERVISORS MEETING <br />DATE: June 7, 1983 Agriculture Center 8:00 - 10:00 P.M. <br />PRESENT: <br />SUPERVISORS: A. Frank Herrin, Dr. Marvin P. Rozear, Whittaker Moose, <br />Paul Bowles , L. Barrier <br />WATERSHED: Carl Overcash, Jerry Hamill <br />OFFICE: Hugh D. Price, Billy Hull, Maxine Shannon <br />1. Chairman Herrin opened the meeting calling upon Whittaker Moose for <br />prayer. <br />2. A motion was made and passed approving the May minutes. <br />3. Dr. Rozear reported a balance of $701.03 net cash in bank. <br />4. Billy Hull reported that he had met with Area judges at the T. D. <br />Mesimer farm this morning for the judging of Farm Family of the <br />Year. <br />5. Mr. Price displayed the new conservation.booklet and teacher's guide <br />which was distributed by the Soil Conservation Service. At this point, <br />it has been distributed to First Assembly Church School, Bethany <br />Christian School and Cabarrus Academy. Public schools will be supplied <br />through the school system. He also reported.that the First Assembly <br />is interested in participating in the conservation tours this Fall. <br />6. Whittaker Moose discussed land use with the question in mind of the <br />Soil & Water Conservation District developing position statements <br />concerning conservation and land use. <br />7. Lipe Barrier reported creek clearing is in process, but funds are about <br />depleted - need to keep the pressure on the County Commissioners to <br />further fund this important work. <br />8. Dr. Rozear read a letter which he had written to the Concord Tribune <br />answering correspondence from a county resident regarding the watershed <br />project. <br />9. Mr. Price made his conservation report. (Accomplishments listed on <br />attached) <br />Billy Hull is presently working on W.A.E. <br />SCS prepared conservation plans of the area and assisted in application <br />for gravel pit permits: Herman Sloop <br />Pless Brothers <br />There is to be a Watershed Tour held in Davie County sponsored by the <br />North Carolina Society of Watersheds on Thursday, July 21, 1983. <br />The Forestry Committee is making plans for a tour of Bowater Paper <br />Mill.
