A <br />(4) RESOURCE CONSERVATION WORKSHOP- information and arrangements have <br />been made for Steve Griffith to attend <br />tthe Workshop June 18 -22. <br />(5) STATE SPEECH CONTEST- Vice - Chairman Frank Herrin reported attending <br />the State Speech contest in May with the <br />Area VIII winner -Jay Juhl and his family. <br />Plans for the District supervisors fair exhibit was briefly discussed. <br />LAND -USE No report <br />iW N N gal W13 <br />a. Lipe Barrier, Frank Herrin, - -Hugh Price along with Watershed Commissioners <br />Carl Overcash and Jerry Hammill attended the Cabarrus County Commissioners <br />meeting on May 7th to support a request by Lipe Barrier for funds to <br />clear the streams in the county. <br />b. Lipe Barrier reported, since that meeting, the crew on stream clearing <br />will be ready to begin work when funds are available. <br />5. District Conservationist, Hugh ?rice gave his report for the month. <br />6. OLD BUSINESS: <br />a. Filing deadline date for position of supervisor is July 6, 12:00 noon <br />at the Board of Elections. <br />The supervisors discussed several people they would like to encourage <br />to file. Contacts will be made to determine interest of those people <br />discussed. <br />b. An article giving a brief description of Soil and Water Districts and <br />supervisors responsibilities has been sent to the local newspapers for <br />publication before the July 6th filing date. <br />7. NEW BUSINESS: <br />a. The 1984 -85 North Carolina Association of Districts Program Objectives <br />and updated By -Laws were distributed to the supervisors at this meeting. <br />b. Supervisors signed expense vouchers for this meeting. <br />8. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, July 10, 1984 Agriculture Center 8:00 P.M. <br />9.
