MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />MEETING NO: 285 Agriculture Center 8:15 P.M. - 9:35 P.M. <br />DATE: August 13, 1985 <br />SUPERVISORS: Frank Herrin, Lipe Barrier,Sr, John Hammill, July Little <br />ASSOCIATE SUPERVISORS: J. Paul Bowles, Eddie S. Moose <br />WATERSHED: Jerry Hammill, Tommy Smith <br />GUESTS: Chris Denny (Representative to Conservation Workshop) , Andy Smith <br />(Information Specialist from Raleigh), Ralph Kilby (local citizen). <br />O`i -IER: Hugh Price, Bill Hull, Eyvonne S. McDaniel <br />1. Vice - Chairman Herrin called the meeting to order, calling on Hugh Price <br />for the Invocation. <br />2. Chris Denny of Northwest Cabarrus High school was present to give a report <br />on his activities at the Resource Conservation Workshop held in June. <br />Chris reported that the workshop was one of the most informative he had <br />attended. He expressed his appreciation to the District supervisors for <br />selecting him to represent the District at the workshop. <br />3. Vice- Chairman's report: INFORMATION REVIEWED: <br />a. Letters from Steve Bennett dated July 24, 1985 - (1) General information <br />(2) NACD Award Nominations (3) Forest Free Seedling Sales. Letter from <br />Frank Jeter, Jr. dated July 29, 1985 giving information. on National <br />Newspaper Week. Letter from Ed Church dated August 5, 1985 concerning <br />Tree Seedling sales. Letter from Carroll Pierce, Acting Director of <br />NRCD, dated August 8, 1985 on legislative update. <br />b. After reviewing the information, a motion was made, seconded and passed <br />to send a resolution of recognition to THE CONCORD TRIBUNE, THE DAILY <br />INDEPENDENT and THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER for their coverage of District <br />events during the year. National Newspaper Week is September 15 -21, 1985. <br />c. Vice Chairman Herrin requested that a telephone call be made to Mr. <br />Carroll Pierce to obtain copies of legislative H.B. 1190, H.B. 1032 and <br />S.B. 298. <br />4. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed approving the July minutes. <br />MEN <br />FINANCE <br />a. August 13, 1985 NET CASH IN BANK <br />$904.98 <br />b. Form 203, Application for Matching Funds, was signed and is to be <br />mailed to the NRCD, Soil and Water Section before September 1, 1985. <br />EDUCATION: <br />a. Bill Hull reported that plans are underway to build the display sponsored <br />by the Cabarrus Soil and Water District. The display is to be entered <br />at the Cabarrus County Agricultural Fair, September 9 -14, 1985. <br />
