MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />SUPERVISORS MEET ING <br />MEET ING NO: 311 <br />DATE: November 10, 1987 Agriculture Center 7:30 P.M. - 9:15 P.M. <br />SUPERVISORS: Frank Herrin, Jimmy Little, Whitaker Moose, Claude Kuykendall, <br />C. Line Barrier <br />OTHER: Hugh Price, Alan Hendrickson, Eyvonne McDaniel <br />1. Chairman Herrin called the meeting to order. Whitaker Moose gave the Invocation. <br />2. Minutes of the SEPTEMBER meeting were unanimously approved. No meeting was held <br />in October since Cabarrus District hosted the Area VIII meeting on October 14th. <br />3. Chairman Herrin introduced Alan Hendrickson to the District supervisors. After <br />reviOwiP_9 Alan 's resume', a motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed <br />to hire Alan as a full time District Technician beginning around November 20th. <br />Alan has been working part time for the past two weeks to help with the Food <br />Security Act determinations to implement conserVatiori plannind.i_rf the county. <br />4. Chairman's report and announcements: <br />(1) (Steve Bennett) District Conservation Displays at Annual meeting. <br />(2) (Steve Bennett) NACE -DEUTZ ALLIS Conservation Education Awards. <br />(3) N. C. SWCD Auxiliary Scholarship for teachers. <br />(4) (Charles Bullock) Clerical Assistance at the N. C. Association A'leeting <br />in January. The Cabarrus District has sent in two secretaries names <br />from Area VIII. Brenda Smith (Monroe) and Waynette Gantt (Lincolnton). <br />(5) (Charles Bullock) Memoral Service at N. C. Association meeting. <br />(6) (Charles Bullock) N. C. Association Soil and Water Districts' meeting. <br />Registration and Pre- registration forms were distributed to the supervisors. <br />Reservations must be in on or before DECEMBER 14, 1987. <br />5. The report of District Conservationist, Hugh Price is attached to these minutes. <br />FINANCE: 11 -10 -187 NET CASH IN BANK $3,213.04 <br />EDUCATION <br />a. A speaking workshop for eighth grade students was held on October 28th <br />in the Learning Center with the President of the Gold Mine Toastmasters <br />Club teaching the 31 students present points in making a good speech. <br />b. The Speech contest and presentation of FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR award <br />Will be held at the December meeting. The winning speech contestants <br />will receive cash prizes from the Soil and WTater District. <br />LAND -USE Whitaker Moose reported that the work on the Mt. Pleasant reservoir <br />is now underway. <br />WATERSHED: No report <br />
