MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />Supervisors Meeting <br />MEETING NO: 339 <br />DATE: March 13, 1990 Agriculture Center 7:30 P.M.- 9:30 P.M. <br />SUPERVISORS: Frank Herrin, Sue Casper, Lipe Barrier, <br />OFFICE: Hugh D. Price, Eyvonne McDaniel, Linda Vernon <br />1. Chairman Herrin called the meting to order. Hugh Price gave the Invocation. <br />2. The FEBRUARY MINUTES were unanimously approved. <br />3. Linda Vernon distributed Cost -Share reports on number of applicants and amount <br />of cost share funds allocated to date. <br />4. Sue Casper, supervisor, reported on attending the State Conference in Raleigh <br />this past weekend-Issues and discussions were on Herbicides, Water Pollution <br />and the importance of recycling. <br />Sue reported that on APRIL 7th, the Keep Cabarrus Clean and Beautiful Board <br />of Directors are planning a Spring 1990 clean-up along Three Mile Branch <br />between Corban Avenue and Cabarrus Avenue. The Board is anticipating a strong <br />interest in volunteers to help with this project. <br />Sue Casper urged the supervisors to attend the LET'S NOT WASTE THE 90's N. C. <br />Town meeting on APRIL 4th at NCSU McKinnon Center in Raleigh- 12:30 -5:00. This <br />is a National Town Meeting Videoconference on the critical issue of solid waste <br />management. The panel will be discussing questions on (1) education and <br />implemntation requirements of SB 111 (2) waste minimization and packaging and <br />(3) issue on waste haulers with real world perspectives. <br />5. The report of the District Conservationist, Hugh Price is attached to these <br />minutes. <br />6. Chairman's report: <br />a. Sue Casper, Whitaker Moose, Frank Herrin and the office staff attended <br />the AREA VIII meting in Charlotte on March 7, 1990. <br />Sue Casper reported on the Area meting and especially on discussing the <br />critical issue of recycling waste. A110-cations for Soil and Water <br />Districts was also discussed. <br />b. David Sides, Director NC EHNR requested that each supervisor receive <br />a copy of the 1990 FARM BILL PROPOSALS and study the information. <br />Copies were distributed to supervisors and office personnel in the <br />District meting tonight. <br />c. Suggestions for the 1990 -FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR should be made and a <br />nominee selected at the April meting. <br />7.
