MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SOIL & WATER. CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />Supervisors Feting <br />MEETING NO: 340 <br />DATE: April 10, 1990 Agriculture Center 7:30 p.m. -9:30 p.m. <br />SUPERVISORS: Frank Herrin, Whitaker Moose <br />OFFICE: Hugh D. Price, Eyvonne S. McDaniel <br />NO QUORUM PRESENT AT THIS MEETING <br />1. Frank Herrin called the meeting to order. <br />2. MARCH minutes were mailed to each supervisor. <br />3. Hugh Price reported on several items: (1) the cost of video equipment for the <br />District to purchase (2) new posts are needed for the Cabarrus Soil and Water <br />District signs that have been damaged and (3) an excellent publication on <br />Pond Management that is being published through the Extension Service. <br />4. The report of the District Conservationist is attached to these minutes. <br />5. Chairman's report: <br />a. Nam badges for the supervisors and office staff were ordered and <br />have been received in the District office. <br />b. No vouchers will be mailed for supervisors to the Division until <br />after July 1, 1990. <br />c. The following suggestions were made for FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR -1990: <br />Arbor Acres Farm, F. A. Rankin and Christy's Nursery. A vote will be <br />taken and approved of one of the nominees at the May meeting. <br />6. Committee reports: <br />Check book balance 4/10/90 FSA 539.98 <br />District 2060.19 <br />2600.17 <br />FTNTC ATMN <br />a. Frank Herrin reported on the Arbor Day activities. With the cooperation <br />of the Forest Service, dogwood trees were purchased and planted at ten (10) <br />elementary schools in Cabarrus county. From March 20 -23 trees were <br />planted each day at the schools. The newspapers gave us excellent <br />coverage on this event. <br />A statement of cost in the amount of $84.01 is to be approved by the <br />District supervisors to reimburse Frank Herrin for purchasing the trees <br />for the District. <br />b. Hugh Price reported that the Land Judging contest was held in Rowan County <br />this year with all three schools in the county teaching agriculture <br />narticipatina. Mt. Pleasant FFA team was first place winner and also had <br />the individual winner in scoring. The contest was held on March 27th. <br />
