MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />Tuesday, December 14, 1993 <br />Supervisors: <br />Frank Herrin <br />Douglas Harkey <br />Myra Morrison <br />Johnny Foil <br />Staff: <br />Frankie Singleton <br />Dennis Testerman <br />Helen Barnes <br />1. Meeting was called to order at 7 :55 P.M. by Johnny Foil, Secretary - Treasurer. <br />2. November minutes were approved. <br />3. FSA - Frankie Singleton mentioned that soils information is being reentered in CAMPS <br />for FSA plans. He also said that it is getting close to the deadline for all FSA plans to <br />be implemented. <br />4. Information /Education - Dennis Testerman reported that the speech contest is set for <br />January 31, 1994 at 7 p.m. in the Learning Center. He also reported on the events taking <br />place with the Envirothon. It doesn't look like we will have any participants from <br />Cabarrus County schools in the Envirothon this year. <br />5. NC Ag Cost Share <br />A_are_e_me_n_ C ontra c t s <br />Ernest and Carolyn Fink (13- 94- 11 -16) Cropland Conversion to Trees, 11.2 ac., $1,294, <br />Priority 5.5 <br />MOTION: THAT THE ABOVE BE APPROVED (M) Morrison (S) Harkey (C). <br />C_om_eliance_& Maintena <br />Livestock exclusion on pastures established in grass <br />-Eddie Baggs <br />- Steven Earnhardt <br />- George Kluttz, Jr. <br />A list of 26 cooperators who have received ACSP funds for cropland conversion to grass was <br />distributed and reviewed. Information on soil loss reductions, livestock, and water <br />sources associated with these operations was also presented and discussed. <br />Fencing was again discussed and the fact that it was not included in the original <br />contract. Doug Harkey suggested that farmers should be made aware in the beginning ASCP <br />requirements for a stream crossing. There was interest in what the cost would be to meet <br />these requirements and the amount of money the farmer would have to pay back if he did not <br />meet the requirements. What actually is required on these farms to get them into <br />compliance.
