MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SWCD BOARD MEETING <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 2008 <br />Supervisors Present: Ned Hudson, Louis Suther, Bob Ritchie, Tommy <br />Porter Jr. and Jeff Goforth <br />Staff Present: Amy Griffith, Dennis Testerman and Shawn Smith (NRCS) <br />Others Present: Don Kaufman, resident; Lauren and Susan Geerken, <br />Resource Conservation Workshop participant and her mother. <br />(1) Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Ned Hudson at 6:40 p.m. <br />(2) Approval of Agenda <br />UPON MOTION of Louis Suther, seconded by Bob Ritchie and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda as submitted. <br />(3) Approval of Minutes <br />UPON MOTION of Bob Ritchie, seconded by Louis Suther and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the minutes of May 6, 2008 and <br />the minutes of the May 15, 2008 called meeting. <br />(4) Unfinished Business <br />(4 -A) Resource Conservation Workshop Participant <br />Ned Hudson introduced Lauren Geerken, from Northwest Cabarrus <br />High School, and her mother Susan Geerken. Lauren thanked the Board <br />for the opportunity to attend the workshop. She stated her mother has <br />recently inherited a family farm in Kentucky in which she hopes to <br />work at in the future. Lauren would like to pursue a degree in Equine <br />Science from North Carolina State University. <br />(4-B) Drought Respo Program <br />Dennis Testerman stated four more applications have been received <br />for the drought response program. <br />UPON MOTION of Bob Ritchie, seconded by Jeff Goforth and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following drought response <br />applications: Kirk Davis, irrigation; Ronnie Boger, pasture reseeding <br />and pond; Donald Faggart, well and reseeding; and Alan Goodman, pond. <br />Ned Hudson stated the NC Soil & Mater Conservation Commission met <br />May 27, 2008 to approve the allocations for each District.
