MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SWCD BOARD MEETING <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2008 <br />Supervisors Present: Ned Hudson, Louis Suther, Tommy Porter Jr. and <br />Jeff Goforth <br />Staff Present: Dennis Testerman and Daniel McClellan <br />Others Present: none <br />(1) Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Ned Hudson at 6:40 p.m. <br />(2) Approval of _Agenda <br />UPON MOTION of Louis Suther, seconded by Tommy Porter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda as submitted. <br />(3) A proval of Minutes <br />UPON MOTION of Louis Suther, seconded by Tommy Porter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the minutes of July 1, 2008. <br />(4) Unfinished Business <br />(4 -A) Prop osed Natural Gas Pipeline <br />Dennis Testerman stated the Board of Commissioners were not able <br />to discuss the natural gas pipeline at their work session on Monday, <br />August 4, 2008. Mr. Testerman said a citizen, Shawn Hoyle, wanted to <br />speak but was not placed on the agenda. He further said Ms. Hoyle did <br />say the Board of Commissioners has sided with the Stanly County <br />Commissioners in opposition to the Alcoa /Badin Lake facility. He <br />further recommended that the Soil and Water Board confer with Grace <br />Mynatt, Commissioner Liaison, to discuss her stance on the pipeline. <br />Mr. Testerman said he exchanged e -mails with the developer of <br />Rocky Glen subdivision off of Archibald Road, where the District has <br />been promised a conservation easement. The developer is not ready to <br />move forward with an easement at this time due to funding. Mr. <br />Testerman is going to prepare a review form for the gas pipeline. The <br />pipeline crosses at least 20 stream crossings. <br />Jeff Goforth suggesting submitting a letter of opposition to the <br />Board of Commissioners regarding the pipeline issue. He also stated <br />the Association may offer a letter of opposition as well. <br />
