MINUTES <br />CABARRUS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT BOARD MEETING <br />Called Meeting <br />Thursday, June 18, 2015 <br />Supervisors Present: Ned Hudson, Vicky Porter, Robert Brown and <br />Jeff Goforth <br />Staff Present: Hannah Hursey and Dennis Testerman <br />Others Present: Kelly Sifford, Planning and Development <br />Department Director <br />(1) Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairwoman Porter at <br />4.00. <br />(2) Approval of A ends <br />UPON MOTION of, Ned Hudson seconded by Robert Brown and <br />unanimously carried, the board approved the agenda. <br />(3) Unfinished Business <br />(3 -A) Land use planning initiatives in the Clarke Creek <br />watershed and other areas of the county as deemed appropriate. <br />Hannah Hursey and Dennis Testerman discussed two development <br />projects that could possibly effect Clarke Creek Heron Rookery <br />Significant Natural Heritage Area and The Conservation Field <br />School at Clarke Creek, which include: Classica Homes (Tarleton) <br />and Pulte (Chestnut Preserve Allen Farm). Discussion included <br />possibility of partnering with Cabarrus County and municipal <br />councils /commissions and their planning departments to apply for <br />a N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) Partners for Green <br />Growth Pilot Project grant. Pilot project would focus on <br />incorporating NCWRC Green Growth Toolbox strategies in local <br />land use plans and zoning ordinances to improve conservation of <br />priority wildlife habitats. Pilot project grant awards are made <br />in the amount of $10,000 or $20,000 and include 80 hours of <br />technical assistance from NCWRC Wildlife Biologists. <br />Discussion also included passing a resolution to agree with <br />future collaboration with Cabarrus County and the municipal <br />governments to protect and conserve other natural areas and <br />water bodies. <br />
