September 18, 2017 (Regular Meeting) Page 3296 <br /> Excellence in Innovations Awards in the Human Services Category to Cabarrus <br /> County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for the development and implementation <br /> of the EMS Health Data Exchange Program. <br /> Justin Brines, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Specialty Services <br /> Supervisor was recognized. He presented an overview of the program and its <br /> benefits to the region. Mr. Gunnet then presented a $1, 000 check to Mr. Brines <br /> for the EMS Health Data Exchange Program along with a trophy for display. <br /> Mr. Gunnet then presented the Local Government Federal Credit Union <br /> Excellence in Innovation Awards in the public information/participation to <br /> current commissioners Steve Morris, Diane Honeycutt, Blake Kiger, Liz Poole, <br /> Lynn Shue, former Commissioner Grace Mynatt, Channel 22 General Manager David <br /> Baxter, and Channel 22 Producer Jarrett Glass for the Cabarrus County Out and <br /> About program. <br /> Jonathan Marshall, Deputy County Manager stated this program is part of <br /> the Boards' strategic plan which came out of a past board retreat meeting as a <br /> way for the Boards' vision to interact with the public. <br /> Chairman Morris commented on the programs' success and recognized and <br /> thanked David Baxter, Channel 22 General Manager, and Jarrett Glass, Channel 22 <br /> Producer, for their hard work on development and management of the program. <br /> Additionally, Commissioner Morris recognized David Nicholson of the NCACC, who <br /> was in attendance. <br /> Mr. Baxter accepted two checks for the Out and About program. He also <br /> commented on the interest of such programming throughout the industry. <br /> Commissioner Shue commented on the possibility of providing Out and About <br /> segments on topics of interest submitted by citizens. <br /> Additionally, Chairman Morris, recognized and welcomed Terri Lea Hugie, <br /> Clerk to the Board. <br /> (C-2) Carolinas Healthcare System Northeast - Community Update <br /> Phyllis Wingate, Carolinas Healthcare System (CHS) NorthEast Division <br /> President presented a community update via a PowerPoint presentation regarding <br /> the hospital' s initiatives and major advances as part of CHS NorthEast's 80th <br /> Anniversary. Included in the presentation was an overview of the CHS NorthEast <br /> Campus Modernization project focusing on updating the facilities for growth and <br /> innovations. <br /> Commissioner Poole commented on CHS NorthEast's presence and <br /> participation in the community. <br /> Commissioner Shue commented on the progress of CHS Northeast through the <br /> years. <br /> Chairman Morris commented on different programs at CHS NorthEast. <br /> (C-3) DHS - Child Support Awareness Month Proclamation <br /> Chairman Morris stated the Cabarrus Department of Human Services is <br /> requesting the Board of Commissioners to declare September 2017 as Child Support <br /> Awareness Month. The local Cabarrus County Department of Human Services Child <br /> Support Division collects over $11 million dollars on behalf of children in <br /> Cabarrus County, and helps provide to the economic stability of families. <br /> Chairman Morris read the proclamation aloud. <br /> UPON MOTION by Commissioner Shue, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board adopted the Proclamation. <br /> Proclamation No. 2017-11 <br /> CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH <br /> IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> A PROCLAMATION <br /> WHEREAS, children are entitled to financial support from their parents and <br /> Cabarrus County continues to improve its efforts at child support collections; <br /> and <br />
