Cabarrus County Parks Commission Minutes March 18, 2010 The Cabarrus County Parks Commission met on March 18, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room on the second floor of the Cabarrus County Governmental Center, 65 Church, St., Concord, NC. Roll Call The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jim Guess and silent roll call was taken. Approval of Minutes Chairman Jim Guess entertained a motion to accept the minutes from the February 18, 2010 meeting. A motion was made by Steve Sciascia to accept the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded by Howard Hurlocker and the motion passed unanimously. Director Londa Strong informed the Parks Commission that she has the municipalities sending reports from their previous presentations on the areas, locations, priorities and we will have the updates for documentation. Old Business 1. Matching Incentive Grant Update Director Londa Strong presented to the Park Commission the 2010-11 Matching Incentive Grant revised draft with the requested revisions and with the approval from Cabarrus County Management to the Commission’s for the review. Cabarrus County Management recommended $75,000 for the next budget year. Approval dates for receiving grants are May 3, 2010 through June 11, 2010 for the first cycle and a second cycle, if needed will be scheduled November 15, 2010 – December 15, 2010. Director Londa Strong encouraged everyone to get the information out to anyone interested. No action was needed on this agenda item. 2. Rob Wallace Park Update Director Londa Strong gave a brief update on the Rob Wallace Park over the last couple months. Due to the economy situation this park will be pushed back for at least a year. If we receive a PARTF Grant we will have up to three years to complete the grant. We will not forfeit the grant if we are awarded the grant.
