Pharr Mill Park Update – Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners approved leasing
the Pharr Mill Road Parkto the Town of Harrisburg. Cabarrus County will own the
property, and Harrisburg will assume the daily operations, maintenance, planning and
everything associated with the park. The County received a PARTF and LWCF grant to
develop the park and have a contract with each stating we will maintain the park as a
park for perpetuity. This plan of action was suggested by the State and Federal Grant
Administrator; it will deter our chances of receiving additional grants if we give the
property to Harrisburg. Steve Sciascia will keep the board updated on Harrisburg’s
plan of action.

2. Rob Wallace Park Grant Update – The following information was presented by Director
Londa Strong.

$6.8 million dollars available for distribution


85 applications submitted requesting $24.4 million dollars

thrd

Our grant placed 35 in the original scoring but ended up 53 after the Park

Authority reviewed them and placed their rankings based on geographical
location, size of community, and funds available.

Twenty-five grants were awarded toward a total of $6.7 million dollars


Next distribution cycle is scheduled for July for funds $1.5 - $2 million

Working with our Regional Consultant would help us improve our Grant’s score before
next January’s submission date A suggestion was made by the Park Commission Board
to invite the Park Authority to tour the Midland park
