<br />Cabarrus County Parks Commission <br /> <br />Minutes – November 18, 2010 <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Parks Commission met on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 6:00 <br />p.m. at the Cabarrus County Governmental Center, 65 Church Street, Multipurpose <br />Room. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jim Guess and silent roll call was taken. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Chairman Jim Guess entertained a motion from the board to accept the October 21, <br />2010 minutes. A motion was made by Steve Sciascia to accept the minutes as <br />presented. Andrea Palo seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Old Business <br /> <br />1. Nominations Update <br /> This agenda item was updated by Director Londa Strong. We have received <br /> one application form and still are in the processing of contacting others to serve <br /> in the Mt. Pleasant and Concord Planning Areas. Nominating Board should have <br /> the recommendations ready by the December meeting to forward on the <br /> Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. <br /> <br />2. Matching Incentive Grant <br /> Presented by Director Londa Strong – Patriots Elementary school applied for a <br /> grant to build a shelter at their school. Joe Sides, Facility Director for the <br /> Schools, called and reminded Patriots Elementary that money had been set <br /> aside to build a shelter. Phil Hull is requesting from the Parks Commission to <br /> make a change in his Matching Incentive Grant request to use the money for a <br /> walking trail and benches with the Parks Commission’s approval. A motion was <br /> made by Andrea Palo to recognize and approve the request. Steve Sciascia <br /> seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />3. Mt. Pleasant – Shandon Property <br /> Presented by Director Londa Strong – <br /> The County has the money to purchase the property and waiting on the signed <br /> agreement. The bank is not able to give us a clear title of property within the <br /> days that were requested for in the contract. Travis Morehead with Carolina <br /> Thread Trail is involved in trying to speed up the process. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
