Page 3 <br />Cabarrus County <br />March 1, 1993 <br /> <br />Planning Activities <br /> <br />Cabarrus County - Americans with Disabilities Act - Continued to provide technical <br />assistance to the county regarding barrier removal plans, transportation and <br />employment issues. <br /> <br />Harrisburg - Discussed with Town officials annexation possibilities. <br /> <br />Regional Activities <br /> <br />Solid Waste Management - Aggressively pursuing and developing a collection <br />program for household medical waste, with pharmacies to collect used syringes <br />in sharps containers. Thereby removing them from the municipal waste stream. <br />Continued to conduct monthly meeting for solid waste managers, recycling <br />coordinators and public works personnel, to discuss current topics, provide <br />legislative updates, disseminate information and address current concerns. <br /> <br />Building Permit Project - Continued to work with Counties to develop a monthly <br />building permit reporting system. Permits for all counties in the region have been <br />collected and is being formatted for use. Data has been collected starting from <br />January 1990 through present. <br /> <br />Data Center - Continued to monitor and collect statistical information relating to <br />municipalities and counties within the Region and State. Disseminated information <br />upon request to local governments and private sector. <br /> <br />Emergency Services Activities <br /> <br />Conducted assessment center for the Concord Fire Department including assessor <br />orientation and debriefing. <br /> <br />Regional Activities <br /> <br />EMS <br /> <br />Attended staff meetings in Black Mountain and Winston-Salem pertaining to EMS <br />Grants Management. <br /> <br />Prepared for and held Regional EMS Advisory Council Meeting. <br /> <br />Began planning for Regional EMS Awards to be held in May. <br /> <br />Prepared budget for Centralina for 1992-93 revision and new budget year. <br /> <br /> <br />
