RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Chapter 160A of the North Carolina General Statutes authorizes <br />municipalities in North Carolina to annex areas into their boundaries; and <br /> <br />the Davidson County Board of Commissioners has expressed concerns that <br />annexation will sometimes occur against the wishes of the citizens of the <br />unincorporated areas and before services are able to be provided to annexed <br />citizens sufficient to justify the resulting higher tax and regulatory burden; and <br /> <br />the Davidson County Board of Commissioners has requested the North <br />Carolina General Assembly and the North Carolina Association of County <br />Commissioner to engage in efforts to amend Chapter 160A of the General <br />Statutes to repeal the power of involuntary annexation over unincorporated <br />areas of counties in favor of voluntary annexation; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby support the Davidson County Board of Commissioners in its <br />efforts to amend Chapter 160A of the General Statutes to repeal the power of involuntary <br />annexation over unincorporated areas of counties in favor of voluntary annexation. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution shall be forwarded to the local <br />delegation of the North Carolina General Assembly and to the North Carolina Association <br />of County Commissioners. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 15th day of March, 1993. <br /> <br />Chairman, Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
