Boger and Mr. Durham appeared before the Board. Boger <br /> <br /> announced matter of closing a road off Lane Street at 1-85 would be <br /> <br /> deferred until the next meeting. <br /> <br /> A request for furniture for the new courtroom in Kannapolis was <br /> <br /> received. After discussion, the Board decided to defer action to see <br /> what is needed and what is available. Chairman Hawfield asked Gallimore <br /> to look into this and report back to the Board. <br /> <br /> Commissioners received for their information an audit of the books <br /> <br /> at The Rowan County Vocational Workshop, Inc. for ]970. <br /> <br /> Copy of a memorandum issued by the former County Accountant in 1963 <br /> <br /> regarding purchasing procedures was passed around, After discussion <br /> Chairman Hawfield asked the County Accountant to review the procedures <br /> and make recommendations at the next meeting for any desired changes. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion to accept road petitions. Seconded by Gallimore. <br /> <br /> Vote was unanimous. Road petitions as follows: <br /> Greenship Acres - Township 8 - Request for addition <br /> Hillside Drive - Township 8 - Request for addition <br /> <br /> Laney Street - Township 4 - Request for addition <br /> <br /> Lynwood Drive-Cedar Wood Avenue - Township 2 - Request for addition <br /> Pounds Street Extension - Township ll - Request for addition <br /> County Attorney Boger presented a. resolution giving the City of <br /> Concord a right-of-way for widening of Means Street. Hammett made motion <br /> to accept resolution. Seconded by James. Vote was unanimous. This <br /> resolution is recorded on Page ~ and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Three bids were received on two new patrol cars for the Cabarrus <br /> <br /> Sheriff's Department: <br /> <br /> Hilbish Motor Co. - $2,672.00 Each <br /> <br /> Beasley-Cross Chev. Co. - 2,880.32 Each <br /> <br /> Art Thomas Chev., Inc. - 5,692.58 Both Units <br /> <br /> McClary made motion to accept Hilbish Motor Company bid. Seconded by <br /> <br /> dames. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Turner Shinn appeared before the Board to report on progress on the <br /> <br /> new Georgeville Volunteer Fire Department, and presented a bill for a <br /> radio for the department and asked that the county include the new depart- <br /> ment in its monthly subsidy for fire protection. Chairman Hawfield will <br /> check into this and study the policy of when county support begins for <br /> new departments. <br /> <br /> <br />
