RESOLUTION <br /> <br />A joint resolution by the Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, <br />and Union Boards of County Commissioners to establish a Regional Air Pollution Control <br />Board. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article 21, Chapter 143, amended, North Carolina General Statutes, sets forth <br />the policy of the State with respect to the conservation of air resources; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 143-215.3(a)(ll)g. authorizes Boards of County Commissioners to <br />establish and administer a regional air pollution control program by participating in <br />the appointment of a regional board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the governing bodies of Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, <br />Stanly, and Union Counties have determined that it is in the best interest of the <br />citizens of their respective localities that a regional air pollution control program <br />be established to administer and ~enforce an effective air pollution control program <br />throughout the above mentioned Counties; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: The Boards of County Commissioners of Cabarrus, Gaston, <br />Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, and Union Counties hereby agree in <br />principle to the formation of a regional air pollution control board to be called the <br />Central Piedmont Regional Air Pollution Control Board which shall consist of members <br />appointed from the Counties according to the'applicable provisions of State Law. <br /> <br />With the creation of the Regional Air Pollution Control Board, shall also be created <br />an Executive Committee to consist of not less than one (1) member from each County, <br />which shall haVe the power of the Board to act on all matters brought to the Board for <br />resolution. Ail matters brought to the Executive Committee shall be approved or <br />disapproved unanimously, or they shall require full Board action. <br /> <br />The Regional Air Pollution Control Board shall be charged with the responsibility of <br />administering an air pollution control program throughout the above mentioned <br />Counties in accordance with the minimum requirements of State Law. <br /> <br /> <br />
