14

speaking in favor of the rezoning petition were Messrs. Raeford McAnulty,
Roy Little, and Jim Little who stated that the proposed auto parts store
would be an asset to the community and create no problems for the residents
in the area.
Persons speaking against the rezoning petition were Messrs. Fred
Coleman and Warren Helms, Mrs. Trexler, and Ms. Ann Efird. Objections to
the rezoning included the availability of other property in the area,
encroachment on a residential area causing a decrease in property values,
increased likelihood of flooding if building is constructed on property,
and possible future uses of the building. Dr. Nancy Horack-Randle asked
that the rezoning be denied until a long range development plan is prepared
for Midland.
The motion by Commissioner Barnhardt and seconded by Commissioner Nash
to approve Petition 84-15 to rezone Map/PIN 5554-18-6532, 29-3165 from A-2
to C-1 failed with Commissioners Barnhardt and Nash voting for and Chairman
Lentz and Commissioners Payne and Milloway votingagainst.
UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne with
Chairman Lentz and Commissioners Payne and Milloway voting for and Commissioners
Nash and Barnhardt voting against, the Board denied Petition 84-15 to rezone
Map/PIN 5554-18-6532, 29-3165 from A-2 to C-1 as requested by Mr. Bobby
Morgan and Don Widenhouse.

(5) Correction of a mapping error. Planning Board recognized and unanimously
passed the correction.

Mr. James Owens advised the Board that the map number for Petition 84-06
by Edward H. Sellers, Jr., to rezone property on Mooresville Road had been
incorrectly advertised for the Public hearing on May 3, 1984, and recorded
in the minutes of that meeting as advertised. He asked that Map/PIN 5613(06)-
18-2727 recorded in the minutes of May 3, 1984, be corrected to read
Map/PIN 5613(05)-18-2727.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Payne and
unanimously carried, the Board corrected the minutes of May 3, 1984, to
show that Map/PIN 5613(05)-18-2727 was rezoned from RMF-6 to C-2.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned.

Clerk to the Board
