<br />5509-55-2614. Wishes to rezone from A-I to C-3. The Planning Board
<br />voted 3 to 1 to recommend denial.
<br />
<br />Mr. Larry E. Morris, petitioner, spoke in support of the rezoning.
<br />There was no one present to speak against the requested rezoning.
<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Chairman Lentz and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board tabled Petition 87-02 until the next zoning
<br />meeting.

<br />Petition 87-03. Kannapolis Glass and Glazing, off South Ridge Avenue,
<br />township 4, Map/PIN 5612(08)-78-5154, 5224. Wishes to rezone from R-9
<br />to C-3. The Planning Board voted unanimously to recommend approval.
<br />
<br /> The Board received the letter from Mr. George Thomas Bennett, President
<br />of Kannapolis Glass & Glazing, Inc., stating that he was unable to attend the
<br />meeting as he was out of state and asking that the petition be tabled by the
<br />Board.
<br /> Mr. 3oe Sorrell, representing a number of residents of the neighborhood,
<br />opposed the requested C-3 zoning classification.
<br /> No one spoke in support of the rezoning request.
<br /> The motion made by Commissioner Hamby and seconded by Chairman Lentz to
<br />table Petition 87-03 until the meeting on March 23, 1987, failed with
<br />Commissioner Hamby and Chairman Lentz voting for and Commissioners Payne,
<br />Melvin, and Moss voting against.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board denied Petition 87-03 by Kannapolis Glass and
<br />Glazing to rezone property off South Ridge Avenue from R-9 to C-3.

<br />Petition 87-04. Walter Wilkinson, off Mooresville Road, township 4,
<br />Map/PIN 5603(12)-77-8222. Wishes to rezone from C-3 to I-1. The
<br />Planning Board voted unanimously to recommend approval.
<br />
<br /> Mr. George Kiser, general partner of a limited partnership holding an
<br />option on the property, spoke in support of the rezoning.
<br /> Mr. Branson Jones, Executive Vice-President of the Greater Cabarrus
<br />County Economic Development Corporation, endorsed the rezoning of the property
<br />to I-1.
<br /> There was no one present to speak in opposition to the rezoning.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board approved Petition 87-04 by Walter Wilkinson to
<br />rezone property off Mooresville Road, Map/PIN 5603(12)-77-8222, from C-3 to
<br />I-1.

<br />(1) Petition 87-01. Section 1.6, page 3; Section 10.2, pages 127 and 128.
<br /> The Planning Board voted unanimously to recommend approval.
<br />
<br /> There was no one present to speak either for or against the proposed
<br />text amendment.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Payne and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board approved Petition 87-01 to amend Section 1.6,
<br />page 3; Section 10.2, pages 127 and 128 of the Cabarrus County Zoning
<br />Ordinance as follows.

<br />Applications or other standard documents filed with the Planning
<br />Department shall be completed upon forms provided by the Planning
<br />Department and approved by said department.

<br />Add at the end of the paragraph on page 128:
<br />This restriction shall not apply to any amendment or petition submitted
<br />by the Planning Board, Planning Staff or the Board of County Commissioners.
