Mr. Perry St. John, architect, briefly reviewed the audio-visual
equipment planned for the Commission Chamber in the new Governmental Center.
He asked for authorization to proceed with bidding this equipment in order
that the equipment installation can be coordinated with the electrical
contractor.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Chairman Lentz with
Commissioners Hamby, Payne, and Moss and Chairman Lentz voting for and
Commissioner Melvin voting against, the Board tabled the matter regarding the
audio-visual equipment until the meeting on July 18, 1988.
Chairman Lentz asked that Mr. St. John provide additional information
regarding the audio-visual equipment for the Commission chamber.
The Board briefly reviewed previous discussion regarding the possibility
of leaving the Register of Deeds Office in the Courthouse for an approximate
$200,000.00 savings in the construction of the new Governmental Center. No
action was taken in this matter and the Register of Deeds Office remained
scheduled for location in the new facility.
Mr. William F. Pilkington, Health Director, reported that only one bid
had been received for the development of an eight-minute video tape, three
public service announcements, and three radio public service announcements
for promotion of the WIC Program. He recommended that the bid be awarded to
the one bidder, Barnhardt, Campbell, and Walker, Inc., in the amount
$21,705.86 plus North Carolina sales tax. Mr. Pilkington stated that this
was the second time that the contract had been bid and noted that the total
cost of this bid will be paid by the North Carolina WIC Program.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Chairman Lentz and
unanimously carried, the Board awarded the bid for video and public service
announcements to Barnhardt, Campbell, and Walker, Inc., in the amount of
$21,705.86 plus North Carolina sales tax.
