Smith <br />This was a dinner meeting honoring the ENGINEERING PLANNING UNIT from <br />Fort Worth, Texas, Mr. L. D. Coltrane, III presided and told what had <br />been accomplished so far by the Board of Supervisors in promoting the <br />proposed Coddle - Coldwater -Dutch Buffalo Creeks Watershed Improvement <br />Program. Mr. Elmer Graham and Dr. Lonnie F. Thompson told of the work <br />being done by the field force. This meeting was merely a get- together <br />occasion for the persons involved in the proposed watershed project, <br />so that they could become better acquainted with each other, and <br />thereby come to a better general understanding of the problems involved, <br />in which each one present had a particular interest. <br />3— Treasurer's Report: Postponed until next meeting. <br />4. The Report of the District Conservationist of the accomplishments of <br />his office during the month of May is as follows: <br />6 New Cooperators, total 1,558 acres <br />5 Farm Conservation Plans, total 1,007 acres <br />24 Ponds furnished with bass fingerlings <br />10 Radio Programs, prepared and presented <br />1 Television Program, prepared and presented <br />1 Feature article on fescue seed harvest written and published by <br />Concord Tribune <br />5. Chairman Coltrane reported that this Board of Supervisors has sponsored <br />the attendance of a high school student, Keith Smith, at the Resources <br />Conservation Work Shop which was held at State College la& week. <br />6,. The principal items of business to come before this meeting was to <br />receive and consider a report from Mr. Lonnie F. Thompson, Watershed <br />Planning Party Leader, on selection of sites for the building of water <br />retaining structures for the proposed Coddle - Coldwater -Dutch Buffalo <br />Creeks Watershed Improvement Program.'- <br />Mr. Thompson was introduced and given the floor. He explained the <br />problems involved in determining sues, and what had been accomplished <br />on this project. <br />He recommended 13 retaining structures be built. He displayed a map <br />on which were located 18 sites which are suitable and will do the job. <br />He explained that 5 of these sites are to be considered as alternate <br />sites. <br />
