It was reported that both local papers gave good publicity coverage to <br />The Land Judging Contest, County Schools Speech Contest and the Area III <br />Spring Meeting. <br />b. Mr. Patterson reported that with the help of Mr. Clyde Osborne (Charlotte <br />Observer) a number of very helpful ideas were discussed concerning better <br />public relations between Districts and others. The Spring Meeting of Area III was held at Hotel Concord, March 26, 1968. Lewis <br />Patterson, Samuel I. Parker, S. W. Colerider, Jr., W.E. Cook, C. C. Rimer, <br />Hugh D. Price, William H. Cato, Eyvonne S. McDaniel, Fred H. Harkey, E. E. <br />Bishop and Ray Allen. <br />County. 9. A motion was passed sponsoring W.A. (Bill) Campbell, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant High <br />School and Wade Carter, Cabarrus Central High School as delegates from the <br />Cabarrus District to the 1968 Conservation Workshop, to be held at N.C. State <br />University the week of June 10-14, 1968. The District is to give each delegate <br />$60.00 with which to pay all fees and expenses. <br />10. Mr. Dameron, Area Conservationist and Mr. Sam Hearn, Soil Scientist, presented <br />a program on soils. Mr. Dameron and Mr. Hearm explained to the Board the many <br />advantages of a Comprehensive Soil Survey to a county, and especially Cabarrus <br />
