6. Committee Reports: <br />Education: <br />a. Mr. Lewis Patterson reported that 5000 inserts on Soil <br />Stewardship Week (May 3-10, 1970) had been ordered. <br />b. The District office has received 100 publications on, "Letts <br />Grow!t? ... 0. A copy was given to each member present. <br />C. The Land Judging contest was held on March 19, 1970 with <br />CENTRAL CABARRUS winning ist prize of $25.00; MT. PLEASANT <br />SCHOOL winning 2nd prize of $10.00; and INDIVIDUAL WINNER- <br />ERIC HOWI3-$5.00. <br />d. The six Conservation Speech contestants are giving their <br />speeches on Radio Station WGTL; one speech each Monday at <br />12:00 noon for six consecutive weeks. <br />Finance: No report <br />Publicity: <br />a. A statement to the House of Representatives written by <br />Congressman Earl B. Ruth was read concerning appropriations <br />for Watershed programs. <br />b. Additional information has been received from the State <br />Watershed Planning party on structure 34. <br />C. Contour maps of structure 19 has been sent to the town of <br />Mt. Pleasant. <br />d. Mr. Jerry Myers explained to the members present that he is <br />working on resource plans of adequate water for Cabarrus County <br />now and in the future. This is in conjunction with his job as <br />Planner for better land use. <br />7. New Business: <br />a. A motion was made and unanimously passed that the District send <br />a representative to the Conservation Workshop this year. <br />b. Chairman Coltrane appointed a committee of three: Mr. W. S. Cook, <br />Chairman, Mr. Ray Allen and 14r. Hugh D. Price to select a <br />representative for approval of the Board at the next meeting. <br />The chosen representative will attend the Conservation Workshop <br />at N. C. State University during the week of June 8-14, 1970. <br />
