�. An announcement was made by Mr. Herrin that now is the time to start <br />planning the conservation tours for the eighth grade students in the <br />county schools. Tenative plans have been made for Frank Herrin and <br />Hugh Price to meet with interested teachers to discuss the tours. <br />Land -Use: <br />Mr. Whitaker Moose has been appointed Chairman of Land Use for the 1981 -82 <br />fiscal year. In his absence, Mr. Herrin commented that no -till planting <br />was expanding in the county; a practice which helps to reduce erosion on <br />farmland. <br />Watershed: (Barrier - Overcash) <br />Today, Dr. Rozear, Lipe Barrier, Frank Herrin, Whitaker Moose, Carl Overcash, <br />John Hamill, Bill Hull and Hugh Price toured structure 17 of the Dutchman <br />Creek watershed. The tour provided a chance for these men to observe a <br />structure under construction. The structure is scheduled to be completed <br />in 1983. <br />Hugh Price reported that he had contacted personnel in the State office to <br />check on information concerning the Water Resources personnel. No information <br />was available. The Water Resources personnel have been asked to assist with <br />work on the Coddle - Coldwater -Dutch Buffalo Creeks watershed project. <br />6. Hugh Price, District Conservationist, gave the following report: <br />Recommended for cancellation: Piedmont Chevrolet Co (105 acres) James W. <br />Kiker (98) Randolph B. Carriker (33) Coddle Creek Farms (1386) Running "M" <br />Ranch (530) J. A. Starnes (168) W. H. Bost (57) and V. C. Cline (124). <br />New cooperator -Dwain Anderson -28 acres. <br />First visit 25; Request serviced 85; Applying conservation practices 1; <br />Conservation Planning 96; Unit of Government assisted 1 and Acres of soils <br />mapped 9,700. <br />Reviewed progress of soils survey and District plans to participate in the <br />"Final Acre Ceremony" Soil survey for Cabarrus County should be completed <br />in November or Decenber. <br />Read N. C. Bulletin 140 -1 -1 to Soil and Water District supervisors about <br />RCA update. <br />Called attention to NACD piamtph le t'Building District Capabilities ". <br />7. Old Business: <br />Frank Herrin reported why the District 5 Year Long Range Plan has not <br />been printed as of this date. When school begins this year, plans will <br />be made to get the plan printed. <br />8. New Business: None <br />9. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, August 11, 1981 Agriculture Center 8:00 P.M. <br />10.
