c. A report was made of a letter from Thomas Rhodes (June 10) requesting that <br />tree seedlings purchased for sale not be advertised in the newspapers. The <br />information in the letter resulted from numerous complaints of commercial <br />nurserymen. <br />LAND -USE: <br />Chairman Moose requested that those present give some thought to recognizing <br />farmers who lease land. He suggested that some type of lease agreement be <br />drafted and copies distributed at the County Fair when our exhibit is displayed. <br />He also suggested that some thought be given to a Conservation Guardian Award <br />to an outstanding farmer who leases land and uses good conservation practices. <br />WATERSHED: <br />a. Bill Hull has spent approximately two weeks obtaining permissions from land- <br />owners along Rocky River from Dutch Buffalo Creek to Irish Buffalo- Coldwater <br />Creek. He distributed copies showing those landowners who signed permits <br />to have the sections cleared. <br />b. After studying different areas, the Watershed Commissioners and Hugh Price <br />gave the area to be cleared first priority. Hugh Price reported that <br />$19,000 has been appropriated by the County Commissioners to use in clearing <br />the designated areas. <br />5. The report of the District Conservationist, Hugh Price, is attached to these minutes. <br />6. OLD BUSINESS: <br />a. Supervisors signed.expense vouchers for this meeting. <br />b. The Cabarrus Soil and Water District Annual Plan of Operations for 1985 -1986 <br />were distributed at this meeting. <br />7. NEW BUSINESS: <br />The Cabarrus County Commissioners have approved the following appropriations <br />for 1985 -1986: <br />Cabarrus Soil and Water District $21,000 <br />Cabarrus Co. Watershed Commissioners 8,751 <br />Clearing debris from streams 19,000 <br />8. NEXT MEETING: <br />Tuesday, August 13, 1985 Agriculture Center 8:00 P.M. <br />9. The meeting adjourned. <br />W.
