Under the Conservation Reserve Program policy, Hugh Price requested <br />that supervisors or a supervisor be responsible for signing and reviewing_ <br />plans. <br />Jimmy Little made a motion that all five Cabarrus supervisors be designated <br />to act for the District in reviewing the farm plans. The motion was seconded <br />and unanimously passed. <br />4. Chairman's report: <br />a. Lipe Barrier, Sr., Supervisor has been in the hospital for the past <br />few days having tests made. <br />b. STATE SPEECH CONTEST - May 8, 1987 -1 :30 P.M. Archdale Building, Raleigh. <br />c. DAVID SIDES -New Director - Division Soil and Water -NRCD- Raleigh. <br />d. Distributed letter from Steve Leonard, Wetland Inventory Section <br />on participation in the Wetland Inventory Project. <br />FINANCE: <br />Claude Kuykendall gave a full report of expenses incurred since the <br />last supervisors meeting. <br />April 21, 1987 NET CASH IN BANK $793.73 <br />Claude also reported that the Awards /Trophy Fund was growing and we <br />(the supervisors) should plan on ideas to present awards for exhibits, <br />displays or any conservation project that was of exception interest. <br />EDUCATION: <br />a. E. E. Bishop report that the Cabarrus FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR for <br />Cabarrus County will be C. Everett Voncannon of the B9idland community. <br />Bishop also reported that he is expecting several more entries for <br />AREA FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR to add to those he has already received. <br />b. Bishop reported that information booklets for the fifth grade students <br />on "Plants- Improving Our Environment" were ordered on April 17th from <br />the Soil Conservation Society. <br />c. Bishop distributed three (3) applications to the District supervisors <br />to review to select their delegate to attend the CONSERVATION RESOURCE <br />WORKSHOP. The delegate selected will be notified in early May. <br />d. Eyvonne McDaniel reported that 10,000 Book markers for Soil and Water <br />Stewardship Week have been distributed by the Extension Homemakers. <br />An extra 2,000 were ordered at the request of the Chairperson in <br />charge of distributed the book markers. The book markers will also <br />be distributed to the hospital, Doctors offices and the libraries <br />in Concord and Kannapolis. <br />LAND -USE: No report <br />WATERSHED: No report <br />6.
