If it is agreeable with the teachers, coordinator and those <br />involved in the speech contest, the District supervisors tentatively <br />approved Wednesday, February 21, 1990 in the Agriculture Center <br />at 7:00 P.M. for the special programs. <br />A motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed that prize <br />money would be as follows: lst place - $40.00, 2nd place - $30.00 <br />and 3rd place - $20.00 for the speech contest. <br />A motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed that runner -ups <br />of the contest would receive $10.00 each and a certificate for <br />participation to be presented at the Awards Day at the schools <br />in May. <br />WATERSHED: No report <br />LAND -USE: Sue Casper reported on hazardous waste and recycling of <br />materials. A discussion was held on these items to make <br />plans for the best way to set up stations to help those <br />who need to dispose of these materials properly. <br />7. NEW BUSINESS: <br />a. By vote and unanimous agreement, the following officers were <br />elected to serve for the Cabarrus District for 1990; <br />Chairman A. Frank Herrin, Jr. <br />Vice - Chairman W. Whitaker Moose <br />Secy- Treasurer Sue B. Casper <br />b. Sue Casper announced that April 27 -29, 1990 is National <br />Celebration of the Outdoors. Sue suggested the District <br />plan some type of activity to commerate the event. <br />c. To date, 8 applicants have requested assistance under the <br />Cost -Share Program. <br />OLD BUSINESS: Supervisors signed expense vouchers at this meeting. <br />NEXT MEETING: <br />Tentatively scheduled: Wednesday, February 21, 1990 <br />Agriculture Learning Center - 7:00 P.M. <br />The Chairman requested a short business meeting following the <br />special programs. <br />a <br />A.
